Grown Up And Me: First Experience with Dance. From as young as 2½, children embark on an exciting journey in our Grown Up and Me class. Here, we blend various dance styles, introducing them to the world of movement and expression. Through the use of props, children engage in playful exploration, listening to music, and following simple instructions. This phase lays the groundwork for their dance journey, fostering a love for movement, rhythm, and creativity from the very beginning.
Nursery - Year 2: Ready for Independence. Children begin with ballet at age 3 and broaden their skills to include Lyrical & Contemporary, Acro Dance, Street Dance, and Theatre at age 4. This phase focuses on laying down strong foundations, boosting confidence, and forming new friendships. Students may also start their first dance exams during this period.
Year 3 Upwards: Building Blocks for Life. Continuing their journey from age 7+, children work towards exams, performance awards and shows, while mastering more complex moves and choreography. This phase emphasises skill development and artistic expression.
Year 6 Onwards: Strong Foundations .As children transition into their teenage years, they build upon their previous experiences and skills. They find support within their dance family while navigating the challenges of adolescence. Opportunities to develop leadership skills arise through roles as Junior Assistants.
Year 11 Onwards: Set For Life Equipped with the life skills learned at KOKO, young people are prepared for the world beyond. Those interested in pursuing dance as a career can receive mentorship as Teaching Assistants or guidance in auditioning for full-time training programs.
